I have a tree in my front yard that has finally let go of her leaves. They are everywhere. I tried to contain them in one large pile next to the tree until I have the time to get them up off of the ground. But for now, there's this ugly heap of leaves blowing around and making a mess, dirtying up all of the yards that surround mine. It's just yucky.
In Winchester, VA today, we had about 3-4 inches of fresh snow fall to the ground. It covered everything in sight with a beautiful blanket of wet snow. Even the mountain of leaves that is piled up on my front yard is now a beautiful mound of snow, all white and pretty. You can't see the ugly leaves or the spot in the yard that no longer has grass. You can't see the plants that have given up their life for the winter. All you can see today is a beautiful blanket of white.
Isn't this what happens when Jesus gets a hold of our lives? He takes the ugliness of our sin and covers it with his blood so that all God can see is a clean, white, beautiful creation. God's creation and our natural world are reminders of His amazing power or redemption. If it is snowing where you are today, take a moment to show kindness to the ONE who has made you clean and let every snowy day remind you of this amazing gift!
