Points for Showing Up

In my class, students can receive 10 points a day for showing up and doing what they are supposed to do. It's amazing to me how many students just DO NOT come to class! How hard is it to get up, come to school, and pay attention? But honestly, for some, it's extremely difficult for various reasons.

I would say that 1/2 to 3/4 of your success in life is just BEING PRESENT. Think about it...are you present with your loved ones? Are you present at your job? Are you present regularly with God? Are you present when driving a car (I hope so!!)? Being on location when you are supposed to be is a huge part of life!

Today, I woke up and felt the pounding in my head and the sniffles in my sinuses. The LAST thing I wanted to do today was go to school and be excited to teach a bunch of teenagers who didn't want to be present. But I went...somehow God even gave me some excitement to be there too...and it turned out to be a great day. Tiring, but a great day!

Tomorrow, a group of girls that I mentor and I are going out to eat before youth group. I'm just going to be present with them. No special lesson, no special reason--we are going to be present with each other.

Who needs your presence today? Who is desiring a bit of attention or some quality time? Be present in someone's life; it could make a huge difference!
